How ePublisher AutoMap Finds Your Jobs

You do not import or register a job. When ePublisher AutoMap starts, it scans the job folder and lists every job it finds there, and it keeps the list current while it runs. It looks for both job file extensions — .waj for a publishing job and .wacj for a composition job — in the job folder itself and in each of its subfolders. A job you created on another computer, restored from version control, or wrote by hand therefore appears in the main window as soon as its file is in place in the job folder. Each job occupies one folder and one name, whichever kind it is.

Every job is an ordinary row in the main window, and the commands on the Job menu act on the selected row regardless of its kind. You edit, rename, duplicate, schedule, run, stop, delete, and view the log for a composition job exactly as you do for a publishing job, and the same commands are available when you right-click the row. What differs is only what the job does when it runs: a publishing job generates output, and a composition job assembles output that other jobs already published. Note: A job depends on the other files in its folder. Rename or duplicate a job with the commands in ePublisher AutoMap rather than by renaming or copying its .waj or .wacj file, so that the folder, the log file, and any schedule stay with it.
