Knowledge storage
Each plan includes a storage cap on the files in the organization's Knowledge Bases. Storage is never billed: the cap is a limit, and an upload or import that would take the organization past it is refused. The Plans page shows each plan's cap.
What counts toward the cap
The cap covers every Assistant in the organization together. It counts the size of the files each Knowledge Base holds: files you upload, Knowledge Files from ePublisher, and the pages imported from websites. Deleting an Assistant frees what its Knowledge Base used.
When an upload or import would pass the cap
Change | What happens |
|---|---|
Uploading files | The upload is refused. The message above the Knowledge Base names the plan's cap, how much is in use and how much the upload would add, followed by See plans for the owner and billing managers |
Importing or refreshing a website | That website's import fails with the same message, and the pages it imported before stay in the Knowledge Base |
Removing files | Always allowed |
The first refusal also emails the organization's billing email. The refusal message is the only place the app shows how much storage is in use. See Knowledge Base problems.
Make room
Remove files the Assistants no longer need, from any Assistant's Knowledge Base, or move to a plan with a larger cap. See Upload files to the Knowledge Base and Choose or change a plan.
After a move to a smaller plan
If the organization holds more than the new plan's cap, nothing is deleted and its Assistants keep answering from everything in their Knowledge Bases. Uploads and imports that add storage are refused until the total is under the cap. When a plan ends, the email that says so also gives the storage figures; after a switch to a smaller paid plan, the first refused upload sends them.
