Reasoning Fuel
Reasoning Fuel is every file you upload to a Knowledge Base other than Knowledge Files: your own notes, references and background. The Assistant reasons from it but never shows it as a source. Use it for what your published content doesn't cover in depth, such as troubleshooting, internal references, and why things work the way they do.
Reasoning Fuel isn't published, but what it says can appear in any answer, to anyone who asks. Upload nothing a visitor shouldn't read.
Writing Reasoning Fuel
The Assistant reads Reasoning Fuel in the passages a search finds, not cover to cover, and treats what it reads as true.
Do | Because |
|---|---|
State facts plainly, in short sections that each stand on their own | The Assistant reads passages, not whole files |
Repeat the context a fact depends on | A passage can arrive without the paragraph before it |
Check every fact | The Assistant repeats an error with confidence |
Write Markdown with clear headings | It is found most reliably |
Give files descriptive names with a shared prefix, such as | They sort together under Uploaded and are easy to find and remove |
Update or remove a file when what it says changes | An outdated file is found as easily as a current one |
To add or replace files, see Upload files to the Knowledge Base.

Where | What happens |
|---|---|
Relative links in | Reduced to their text at upload; the file's row says how many |
Full addresses, such as | The Embedded Assistant can give one in an answer, because the address is in its knowledge |
The Sources row under Embedded Assistant answers | Never lists Reasoning Fuel: an uploaded file has no address |
Reverb 2.0 help | The Reverb Assistant doesn't link to it |
