Change roles and billing managers

Everyone in the organization is listed under Members in Settings > Organization. Owners decide each member's role and who handles billing, owners and admins remove people, and anyone can leave.

Change a member's role

Only owners can change roles.

  1. Go to Settings > Organization.

  2. Under Members, open the role list on the member's row.

  3. Choose Owner, Admin or Member.

The change takes effect at once, with nothing to save. Your own row has no role list: another owner changes your role.

To hand the organization to someone else, make them an owner; you can then leave. There is no separate transfer step.

Choose billing managers

A billing manager handles the organization's billing without being an owner: the Plans and Billing tabs, credits, the plan, the payment method, plan codes and the billing email. Only owners choose them. Owners always have billing access, and their rows say Always (owner).

  1. Go to Settings > Organization.

  2. Under Members, in the Billing column, select Billing manager on the member's row.

Clear the box to take billing access away. The member's role stays as it was, and the change reaches them on their next page load. Someone you invited can be made a billing manager once they have accepted. See Roles and permissions.

Remove a member

Owners and admins can remove members.

  1. Go to Settings > Organization.

  2. Under Members, click Remove on the member's row, then confirm.

The person loses access to the organization at once, and everything they worked on stays with it. Anyone can be removed, owners included, except an organization's only owner. To let someone back in, invite them again.

Leave an organization

  1. Go to Settings > Organization.

  2. Click Leave on your own row, or Leave organization under Danger zone, then confirm.

The Platform moves you to another organization you belong to, or creates one for you if you belong to no other. An organization's only owner can't leave: make another member an owner first.
