Put an Assistant in deployment

An Assistant answers visitors only while it is in deployment. Until then, and whenever you take it out, it answers only you, in Preview, and creating and testing Assistants stays unlimited. One switch serves every install of the Assistant, on websites and in Reverb 2.0 help alike.

What an Assistant needs first

Requirement

Met when

Origin domain

At least one Origin Domain is saved. See Set an Assistant's Origin Domains.

Knowledge Base

At least one website or file is in the Knowledge Base. A file still uploading counts. See Knowledge Base.

Instructions

The Instructions field isn't empty. See Write an Assistant's Instructions.

The requirements are checked against saved settings, so click Save Changes before you turn the switch on. Any that aren't met are listed under In Deployment, and on the Install tab under Before it answers visitors.

Turn deployment on

  1. In AI Assistants, open the Assistant.

  2. On the Configure tab, go to In Deployment.

  3. Turn the switch on.

The switch saves on its own; Save Changes neither saves nor undoes it. The header then shows In Deployment, and the Install tab says the Assistant is ready and on which domains. Anyone in the organization can turn the switch on or off.

The plan's limit

Each plan allows a set number of Assistants in deployment at once; the Plans page lists them. When every place is taken, the switch of an Assistant that isn't in deployment can't be turned on, and In Deployment says how many your plan allows and how many are in use. Take another Assistant out of deployment, or move to a plan with more. Only the owner and billing managers can change the plan.

On some plans, the Embedded Assistant's panel shows the line AI Assistant · Powered by WebWorks. The Plans page shows which plans have white-label chat instead.

When a deployed Assistant stops meeting a requirement

An Assistant stays in deployment if, for example, its last Origin Domain or its last file is removed. In Deployment then says it no longer meets the requirements and lists what is missing. Without an Origin Domain it answers on no site.

Take an Assistant out of deployment

Turn the In Deployment switch off. This is always allowed, and it takes effect at once: the Embedded Assistant no longer appears on pages as they load, and the Assistant refuses questions from Reverb 2.0 help. The Assistant keeps its settings and knowledge, and Preview keeps working.
