AI Assistants
An Assistant is what answers your visitors. It follows its Instructions, answers with the model you choose, and searches its Knowledge Base for what to say. You build and test it on the Platform, and it answers visitors once it is in deployment, on a website, in Reverb 2.0 help, or both.
What an Assistant is made of
Every setting is on the Assistant's Configure tab except the installs.
Part | What it decides | See |
|---|---|---|
Name, description, avatar, conversation starters | What visitors see when they open the chat | |
Instructions | What the Assistant is, how it answers, and what it must not do | |
Model and Reasoning | How good, how fast and how costly its answers are | |
Daily budget | The most it spends on visitors' answers in a day | |
Per-visitor message limit | How many messages one visitor may send in a time window | |
Knowledge Base | The websites and files it answers from | |
Origin Domains and In Deployment | Where it may answer, and whether it answers visitors at all |
Build, test, install
Open an Assistant from AI Assistants to work on it in three tabs.
Tab | What you do there |
|---|---|
Configure | Change its settings. |
Preview | Chat with it as you configure it. See Test an Assistant in Preview. |
Install | Copy the script tag for a website or the Assistant ID for Reverb 2.0 help, set the Embedded Assistant's colors and language, and see what still has to be done before it answers visitors. See Installs. |
In a wide window, Configure and Preview sit side by side, and Install is in the top bar. The header shows the Assistant ID with a copy button, the model, and whether the Assistant is In Deployment or Not deployed.
Saving
Changes on the Configure tab, Knowledge Base uploads and removals included, wait for Save Changes in the top bar. The button appears once something has changed, and Up to date takes its place after the save. Leaving the page with unsaved changes asks whether to Leave or Stay.
Three things save apart from it: the avatar and the In Deployment switch save as soon as you change them, and the Install tab's appearance settings have their own Save button.
One Assistant, both installs
One Assistant can answer on your website as the Embedded Assistant and in Reverb 2.0 help as the Reverb Assistant at the same time. Both installs use its settings, its Knowledge Base and its one In Deployment switch, and both find it by its Assistant ID.
An Assistant has one model. To run a light model on your website and a larger one in your help, create two Assistants.
Who can work on Assistants
Everyone in the organization, whatever their role, can create, configure, test, deploy and delete its Assistants. AI Assistants lists the Assistants of the organization you are working in. What they spend is paid from the organization's credits, which only the owner and billing managers manage. See Roles and permissions.
